We previously told you about the video of Jacksonville Jaguars Khalif Barnes being arrested, and now we can show you the video, which first appeared at Jacksonville.com, here:
The eerie thing about the video is how calm Barnes is throughout the whole thing. When he's calling the police officer a "KKK devil," he doesn't even seem particularly agitated, as though that's a normal thing to say to someone. In a way, his comments would seem more acceptable if he were ranting and raving like a lunatic -- in that case, we could say he didn't know what he was saying and blame the booze. But Barnes' tone here makes it clear that he knew exactly what he was saying. And what he was saying wasn't pretty.

Ever consider it was true?
Originally alot of people condemned Khalif for playing the race, why are you so hard to accept that it might be true?

I generally don't comment on these blogs because I get a big kick out of seeing all the asinine comments that follow, but what exactly is an EERIE CALM? I hear so often people say that someone played "THE RACE CARD", and so often it has merit, I.E. when a complete and utter idiot does something stupid and all of a sudden someone is "PREJUDICED", but here you have a guy that is completely calm and seemingly completely sober, if not we can't tell by his EERIE CALMNESS and let it also be remembered that he says" I AIN'T GONE SPEAK FOR ALL WHITE COPS BECAUSE WHITE COPS ARE COOL " so even if his vernacular is colloquial his sentiments are directed towards one person, and maybe a person who deserved it. So shall we say that the HOLOCAUST did not happen? "IT'S JUST THOSE DAMNED JEWS PLAYING THE RACE CARD" or SLAVERY WAS JUST A RUMOR and all, not some but all BLACKS ARE ALWAYS, PLAYING THE RACE CARD! Lets be realistic RACISM is REAL and it rears it's ugly head at us all WHITE, BLACK, JEW or GENTILE.
I think he held his composure pretty good for a "DRUNK GUY" and were it not for his penchant to use the word motherf__ker his ire was all but hidden, so guys like this....don't make out into demons...... does a badge and a gun equal an honest person? Let's hold the witch hunts for times when they are deserved. Thanks for the moment Thomas.

Sometimes one can remain calm even while intoxicated or under stress when you are resigned to the facts of life in this country.

Going 101 and claims there was no reason to pick on him. I can't buy that story. Just another sad tale when an athlete thinks that he should be held to lesser standards than the rest of us.

Iīm a retired cop has had the race card plaqyed on me so many times itīs a joke. Eventually becomes frustrating background noise.
That said, Barnes looked and sounded sober to me. I would have never considered arresting someone that clear headed unless there had been an accident or injury involved. I donīt know what led up to the arrest, and obviously I wasnīt there, so I canīt speak for certain. Just makes me wonder.
Secondly, you shouldnīt get too down on Barnes for his statements. They were pretty vanilla compared to what usually comes from the back of a squad, regardless of race. I admire him for the fact that he stayed calm. BTW: Iīm not a Jags fan or have any feelings one way or another about Barnes other than he would be a welcome addition to the Vikes.
That is all

Barnes Does not even appear to be drunk. He is rather calm. It seems that he is victim of KKK racism what he needs Al Sharpton and Ex-Black Panther (Current City Councilman in Brooklyn) Charles Barron to represent him against the racist media and Sheriff dept. in the Deep South and put an end to institutional racism. This is 2007 not 1967!

He was driving 100 mph and over the legal limit. They should of arrested him. If a white pro athlete was guilty of the same shit, they wouldn't of arrested him. They would of let him off with an autograph. His calmness explains this. 0.12 is 1 1/5 of a beer and everyone speeds in Florida. Oh yah and the kkk are connected to the police, especially in Hick towns

"Not pretty" doesn't necessarily mean "not true." I don't know if he's right or wrong in this particular situation, but ... fact: There are racist cops in the world.

Hmm...Well its easy for people to tell someone black to "stop" playing the racist card. I actually lived in Jacksonville, Florida for 4 years. And I can honestly say that I've never seen so many rednecks and pickup trucks in my life. I couldnt wait to get out of that town. It was the biggest "little" town on a mental scale that I've ever been in. You might as well call it southern Georgia for all the trash that finds its way there. But I digress. I'm not saying that the police didnt have a legitimate reason for arresting him if he was doing 100mph. But unless you've personally experienced racism then dont immediately dismiss it. I know white America want to believe that its gone..but trust me on this boys and girls. The KKK and racism is alive and doing very well in places like Jacksonville, Florida.

Did the writer ever consider that his "eerie calm" demeanor indicated his level of sobriety.
As someone who has prosecuted these types of cases, my questions are where is the rest of the video that shows the stop from the beginning and or any field sobriety tests or breathalyzer test?
If this is the extent of the evidence, there's not even a legal presumpion of intoxication.

i live in jacksonville now and have the past 12 years.cops are not big on speeding tickets here like in other parts of florida.i agree his demenor is not like that of a drunk, but rather someone who feels they are important( which he is to our team) and has been done wrong by the police( 100mph ?) i just wish it was a black cop who pulled him over, then all this talk of racism wouldnt be embarrassing him or our team GOOO JAGUARS !!!!

Gee, where is the NAACP and preachers coming out of the woodwork for the entertainment factor. Poor, rich athlete getting his dues like anyone else who would be arrested for speeding and drinking. Want respect? The only respect you get is on the playing field, not outside it. Too many athletes assume that privledge and get away with it. I say the fines should extend to the "Teams" and "Owners" of such idiots. If they are unable to handle their players and lay down the rules of sportsmanship which should extend beyond the playing field, then so be it... the loss of one game is not enough. What if their was another vehicle involved then what? I doubt he even seen the KKK except on TV. Name calling comes out of his mouth just as fast as any other person, but you don't see the Whie NAACP marching.

Yes, America still has same race issues to work through, but what about the lives the officers saved by stopping him before he killed you, your children or himself.Appears to me the right vs wrong issue got lost in the confusion.
